The Southwest I-Corps Hub is a part of the National Innovation Network — a national network of NSF-funded researchers from I-Corps teams and hubs — together, the network works to address America’s need for innovation education. The hub works with other I-Corps Hubs to:
Universities within the hub work to standardize and implement best practices and curricula to foster entrepreneurial thinking, train scientific researchers to generate innovations with commercial potential from their deep tech intellectual property, increase engagement of underrepresented groups, enhance academia-industry interaction, and increase venture capital funding in the region.
The National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps) program provides education and support for researchers to learn the ropes of entrepreneurship, understand industry requirements and challenges, and ultimately transform their research from ideation to commercialization. Through I-Corps training, scientists and engineers can extend their focus beyond the laboratory to increase the economic and societal impact of their research.
